Even though we aren’t living in our home we sold earlier this year (hello rental life), I’m taking this time to catch up on some blog ideas that have been sitting on my to do list. I’ve been meaning to compile a list of our interior paint colors, including my favorite white paint color, so here we go!
When it comes to paint, it seems like there’s a divide. You’re either team Sherwin Williams (SW) or team Benjamin Moore (BM). Sure there’s other paints like Valspar, Behr, Farrow & Ball, etc, but our builder specifically uses Sherwin Williams. It also helps that there’s a SW store close to us and the employees are always super helpful. Overall, I’ve just had a great experience using Sherwin Williams (not sponsored, just my honest opinion) and will probably continue to use Sherwin.

Sherwin Williams Pure White

We painted our entire home SW Pure White, including the ceilings. It is my all time favorite white paint color. Not too yellow, not too stark, but just right. We had excessive amounts of sunlight, as well as darker spaces in our basement and Pure White looked great in all the rooms, regardless of the lighting. So great, that we’ve selected Pure White for our new home as well!
White paints can be so hard chose from, especially when you’re building a home and not able to see paint samples in the space. Trust me, Pure White is a GREAT white.
A common question I’ve received is what color did you paint your shiplap? We used primed shiplap in our living room (pictured above) and our bedroom (below). In both areas, we painted the shiplap SW Pure White to match the walls.

Sherwin Williams Shiitake
Moving into our kitchen and pantry, our greige mushroom cabinets will forever be a favorite of mine. I actually don’t know the exact color (gasp), but it is so similar to SW Shiitake. Again, trust me on this one. Shiitake is a gorgeous color! However, just to warn you, these cabinets are a chameleon. They tend to look pinkish blue in the morning light and more of a true greige in the afternoon and evening. Nothin wrong with that, but something you should be aware and can happen with greige colors.
Before you ask, yes, our pantry cabinets are the same color as our kitchen cabinets. In photos, our pantry cabinets look more pinkish, but I think it’s due to the lack of natural light in this space. The pinkish backsplash doesn’t help either.

SW worldly gray
If you’ve been following me for a year or so on Instagram, then you probably followed along when we installed this accent shiplap wall in our office. I had a hard time finding the perfect greige color so I actually made a custom color by mixing SW Worldly Gray and SW Pure White. I think it was a 85/15 mix with using mostly SW Worldly Gray. I probably could have used SW Shiitake to achieve the same results. The color turned out very close to our kitchen cabinet color.
SW Tricorn Black
Do you know what my least favorite thing is? Painting a ceiling. Ha! It’s not the most enjoyable thing, but man, that black ceiling sure made a difference in this room. My favorite black is SW Tricorn Black and I used a matte finish on the ceiling. If you are using a darker paint on a lighter wall, I definitely recommend a thicker paint. I used the cheap stuff and had to put three coats on this ceiling, while 5 months pregnant. Climbing up and down a ladder was definitely a workout!

SW gauntlet gray
We went moody with our primary bathroom vanity and chose SW Gauntlet Gray. It is a pretty darker gray with brown undertones. I love it paired with our brass knobs and white floor. This is a horrible picture, taken early in the morning with bad lighting, but you get the idea.
SW Rockwood Shutter green
Moving down to our basement that was finished just earlier this year, we wanted to go bold and moody. I painted the family room and basement bathroom with SW Rockwood Shutter green. It looks almost black in photos, but it is most definitely a dark green color. It’s so pretty and I can’t wait to incorporate this color into our new home. I love the accent shiplap wall that we added and the trim detail. I also paired this moody wall with a fun plaid wallpaper (more to come on that).

That concludes the paint tour! Have you used SW Pure White in your home? If not, what’s your favorite white paint color?
Hi Chelsea! I love the look! I recently painted our house SW Pure White as well based on the beautiful photo you had posted! I was wondering, though, for the flooring, what brand/color/type did you use? It looks spectacular! Thank you in advance!
Thank you Carmen! Our flooring is Pinnacle Peak laminate in the color Mushroom.
