We updated the boys’ room this past summer and have been loving their spacious room – thanks to their awesome bunk beds! We worked with Maxtrix Kids on their new bunk beds and after having them for 6+ months, I feel like it’s time to provide an honest review. Even though we received the bunk beds free of charge, this review is my honest opinion.
When we first moved into our home, the boys – Auden and Alder – each had a metal twin bed, which worked in our past home. Their new room is much smaller, about two feet smaller each direction, so we knew we needed to create some space in here. Here’s what the room looked like when we first moved in.

After discovering Maxtrix Kids on Instagram, I was so excited to work with them on refreshing the boys’ room. They honestly have so many bunk beds to chose from and I love that they offer 3 and 4 bed bunks and even slides! How cool is that? We went with the Standard Twin Medium Bunk Bed in white because I love the modern lines. Unfortunately, a slide wouldn’t fit in this small room so we opted for under the bed storage drawers. These drawers are a life saver for stuffed animals and blankets.

We received their bunks and got busy putting them together (which was relatively easy thanks to the detailed instructions). In all, we were able to put this bed together in about two and a half hours. Because this bed is all wood, it is heavy! It can also hold 800 lbs so I feel comfortable crawling to the top bunk for bedtime snuggles or making-the-bed struggles. Ha!

Once we had the bunk bed put together, we made a few more changes to their room. I painted the ceiling Sherwin Williams Tricorn Black for some fun contrast. We had a black painted ceiling in our past bathroom and loved it so I knew I wanted to recreate the look in here. We added a few floating picture frames with some art, installed a low-profile ceiling fan, and swapped out their bedding for a pair of linen duvets.

I’m so happy with how their room came together and know they will enjoy this beach-vibe room for many years to come!
